# Limner

> Limner is a native Windows painting app for pen-display artists, with optional 4K timelapse recording built into the canvas. It is free during the beta and needs no account.

Limner runs natively on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. Illustration is the primary workspace, with GPU-accelerated raster painting, 26 blend modes, masks, selections, transforms, and PSD exchange. Vector and frame-by-frame Animation workspaces are included, and Book projects organize multi-page Illustration or Vector pages. These broader workspaces are still preview surfaces. After the user chooses Record, Limner captures process frames and exports a clean 4K timelapse without screen capture or cloud upload. Limner is currently in beta - request access from the homepage.

- Is there a Procreate for Windows? Procreate itself is iPad only. Limner is a native Windows alternative focused on pen-display painting and opt-in timelapse recording, with Windows Ink pressure and tilt, PSD exchange, and Photoshop .abr tip import.
- What does Limner cost? Limner is free during the open beta. Post-beta pricing has not been announced publicly.
- Does Limner open PSD files? Yes. Limner imports and exports layered 8-bit RGB PSD files, up to 8192 by 8192 pixels. PSD exchange is intended for supported raster layer properties, not lossless round trips of every Photoshop feature.
- Can I draw, animate, and make a comic in one Windows app? Yes. Limner has separate raster-painting, vector, and frame-by-frame animation workspaces. A Book project organizes multiple Illustration or Vector pages; Animation pages are not supported inside Books.
- Is this the same as the Limner iPad app? No. Limner at limnerart.com is a native Windows art studio by Limner LLC, unrelated to the iPad-to-Mac tablet utility at limnerapp.com.
