Record your art as a 4K timelapse

Limner records your whole process as you paint, at up to 4K, and keeps the timelapse inside your document. No screen recorder, no separate app.

How it works

• Choose Record in the new-canvas prompt or Timelapse panel; Limner then captures edits at up to 4K while you work.
• The timelapse lives inside the .limner file and can resume across sessions, so a piece drawn over days becomes one continuous video.
• Limner's built-in H.264 encoder runs on a dedicated CPU thread. No FFmpeg install or hardware video encoder is required; if encoding falls behind, Limner drops a frame instead of blocking the brush.
• Export with speed control and an end-card hold, and make social crops sized for where you post.

Good for sharing and proof of work

After you opt in, Limner captures a clean canvas-only process video without recording your desktop, cursor, panels, or other apps.

Formats

Timelapse exports to MP4. Still art exports to PNG, JPEG, layered PSD, and SVG, and animation projects export GIF and MP4.

Common questions

Do I need a separate screen recorder?

No. Choose Record in Limner, then paint normally. The app captures the canvas without recording the rest of your screen.

What resolution can it record?

Up to 4K within the encoder's landscape, portrait, and pixel-area limits. The built-in H.264 encoder runs on a dedicated CPU thread.

Where is the timelapse saved?

Inside your .limner document, and it resumes across sessions. You export it to MP4 when you are ready.
